Role Objective Expert Thinking are looking for talented individuals who have a referenceable track record and a passion for using their knowledge and expertise to help others succeed on their cloud journey. We have an opportunity for an experienced cloud data analytics architect/engineer to join us and contribute to the growing success of this boutique consulting organization. Main Duties - Support our customers in defining their requirements for data analytics, business intelligence and reporting technologies in Azure and AWS. Definition of high-level design documentation, Agile principles etc - Be able to model different types of data (structured and unstructured) covering different types of formats (Avro, parquet etc) as well as standard data modelling techniques such as Kimball - Drive the direction of customer organisations through requirements, architecture, high level design, testing and delivery, in consideration of security, performance, cloud hybrid models, extensibility, supportability etc. - Be able to build and configure Azure cloud data services covering areas such as ADF, SSIS, Data Lake design, SQL Data Warehouse design, security through Key vaults, RBAC etc. Be able to integrate with DevOps best practice - Strong ETL/ELT design and development capabilities, development and testing of stored procedures as well as SSIS, ADF design, configuration and orchestration - Manage technical engagement with our clients on a day to day basis, working closely with our technical project managers, account managers and DevOps specialists. Experience Required - At least five years' experience in the configuration and development of cloud data analytics solutions, using Azure (essential) and AWS (desirable) - Development across the Azure stack, from source to warehouse, including modelling of data sources - At least three, and ideally five years SQL server and/or SQL Data Warehouse configuration and development experience - Experience of working in industries managing sensitive data, financial services, health care in particular. - End to end experience (minimum two years) of CI/CD practices, Azure DevOps and development tools (eg Jenkins, GIThub etc) - Strong ARM template, JSON and PowerShell capabilities highly prized - Experience of working in multiple organisations – must be able to demonstrate experience of multiple successful programs Key Skills - Very strong Azure data analytics knowledge across the stack including Lake, ADF, SSIS etc - Security integration including AD, Key Vault, data encryption etc - DevOps automation capabilities using ARM, JSON, Powershell etc - Test automation frameworks - Azure Analysis Services knowledge, covering design, configuration and implementation - BI reporting design and development, for example PowerBI, Tableau etc. - Integration into the SDLC tooling such as Jenkins, GIT, Selenium etc. - Very strong data modelling capabilities (Kimball or equivalent) - SQL Server and/or SQL Data Warehouse platform configuration, implementation and development (schemas, tables and views) Key Personal Characteristics - Display very strong inter-personal, verbal and written communication skills - Be self-motivated and able to meet objectives with little or no direct supervision - Must be a detail-oriented, security conscious, and rigorous individual - Show self-confidence when dealing with Senior Management and Director level users - Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, able to work efficiently under pressure - Have a good analytical mind and be able to “think out of the box” to find solutions that do not seem obvious at first sight - Be a good team player, keen to share knowledge and willingly assist fellow team members - Be willing to travel to client sites across the UK if required.
