Female Support Worker - North Somerset
£16,717 per annum pro rata + excellent benefits
We are looking for proactive, passionate and sociable Female Support Workers to join our friendly and welcoming team in Weston-Super-Mare on a permanent basis for 20 hours per week.
We are currently supporting eight fantastic individuals with a learning disability living across Weston-Super-Mare. Some of the individuals leave on their own in flats, whilst some living in a Supported Living accommodation. Each individual person that we support within this service are a very busy bunch who enjoy an active social life by getting out and about as much as possible - watching new and exciting movies at the cinema, gardening and going for meals and coffee! As a Female Support Worker for Mencap you need to be able to meet the needs of those that we support as well as be flexible and resourceful in order to keep up with them!
When at home, they like to be involved in the upkeep of their house and garden as well as household chores, such as cooking, cleaning and washing. In their free time, they enjoy games, TV, parties, visiting local cafes and pubs and of course, a good conversation! What’s not to love?!
Each individual is quite independent, however support levels do vary. Some may need help in shopping whilst others may need assistance with their employment (both paid and voluntary) and accompanying to social events.

As a Female support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!), evenings and sleep-ins (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own requirements – have you got commitments on a Thursday? Not to worry, we can factor this in, as well as other requests (provided you give us enough notice) into our rotas.
