We have a fantastic opportunity for a National planning manager to lead the central planning team, covering all aspects of network planning for the Whitbread and Costa contract. Kuehne+Nagel Ltd are working on behalf of Whitbread and Costa to ensure the safe delivery of chilled, frozen and ambient products to the Costa Coffee, Premier Inns and associated restaurant estate throughout the UK.

YOUR ROLE

The successful candidate will develop and deliver a cost effective, operationally efficient and achievable network transport plan for the Whitbread, Costa, trunk and supplier backhaul network whilst maintaining budgeted costs. Through the efficient planning mechanism, deliver all customer KPIs, service level agreements and targets whilst ensuring company policies, procedures and legal requirements are adhered to. You will also adopt an innovative approach to continually develop solutions and promote network changes allowing for operational agility yet reduces operational cost. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join our innovative and award winning Food Services Team.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Use Paragon scheduling system to develop and maximize cost effective schedules including forecast schedules for peak periods such as Christmas, Easter and summer to ensure the network is correctly resourced and identified additional costs are aligned with the budget. Complete and communicate network forecast volumes to enable appropriate operational resource planning. Evaluate and recommend changes to the current and future network requirements that are aligned to the customer and company growth strategy. Produce a daily plan v actual summary and challenge variations to plan with a view to maintain costs and service level and optimising focus areas. Report fleet performance through the preferred vehicle telematics system. Compile weekly network KPI report, focus area performance management summaries. Coordinate and communicate the planning and execution of all new store openings for the network. Plan all requirements for network structure changes, as well as new customer initiatives and projects. Manage fleet and operational performance through continuous improvement and development of vehicle telematics and Transport Management Systems. Regularly communicate all optimisation, cost reduction initiatives, legislative and planning department updates to the contract. Manage and optimise backhaul network through KN trunk and radial network, other KN contracts and 3rd party sub contraction. Plan and optimize driver and vehicle resource for the network ensuring that all resources are fully deployed effectively Control costs in line with budgets and be innovative, propose initiatives that will support network cost reductions and service improvements.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

Demonstrable experience of a strong capability to operate strategically at national and subnational level in strategic development or related environment. Experience of analytical techniques and systems. National CPC holder Strong ambition to add value and enjoy a challenge. The ability to work well under pressure. The ability to work in a team or independently and the capability of building strong relationships. Innovative thinking around effective solutions to problems. The ability to present information clearly verbally and in writing.
