What can the dating game teach us about finding a job

Here at Zoek Towers we wondered if there were any dating tips that we’d picked up over time that we could all use to help us when searching for a job.

Know what you’re looking for
When dating you know who you are looking, you know your ‘type’. These same ideas should apply when looking for a job. If you know what you want in a new role, such as location, pay and responsibilities, it will be a lot easier for you to find the perfect match. But remember, similar to dating, don’t be too picky!

Play the field
Okay so it might not be socially acceptable to start looking for a new relationship while still in one but you can certainly do this with a job – just be a bit clever about it. Don’t go shouting around the office that you have interviews lined up or that you have sent your CV to all and sundry, be discreet and keep a good working relationship with your current employer.

Don’t rush
In other words make sure you don’t live to regret your decision by rushing too quickly into a new job. Take your time and weigh up your options, just like you would if you were dating and don’t rush into the first job that comes your way.

Do your research
We can all be guilty of stalking a potential partner on social but you should really be doing this for potential employers as well. If you have an interview lined-up, look up the company first on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, or even by doing a Google search, to ensure you know everything there is to know so you can go into your interview prepared.

Find your perfect match
When searching for love you might use Tinder, when searching for a job you should definitely use Zoek. Zoek matches you to your perfect job in an instant. Find a job you actually love…
