The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Team Zoek have taken part once again this year, boosting this nationwide initiative.
On Friday 27th September we came together for a cuppa and cake, raising £145, which will go towards helping people living with cancer in the UK. Preparations kicked off earlier on that week to ensure that this year’s event is bigger and better than ever before, more than doubling our donations.
Zoek welcomed everyone to its annual multicultural coffee morning
The initiative was organised by the company’s Executive Assistant and incredibly supported by all staff members right away. As part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, our Team brought in all sorts of treats from homemade cupcakes and cookies, to multi-coloured layered creations!
Zoek’s multicultural workforce added an international tone to the event. Everyone baked, brought and sampled traditional treats from their home countries, embracing each others heritage. Acknowledging our collective effort, staff got the chance to mingle and catch up over a warm brew.
Celebrations were in full swing at our head office in Knutsford, honouring the company’s annual partnership anniversary with the charity. By the end of the day, Zoek’s Operational Director supported the donations, while seizing the opportunity to express a massive thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to host such a fantastic event.
The Macmillan Cancer Support event is a key date in the fundraising calendar. Cancer touches so many people’s lives and the coffee morning sets a way for everyone to get involved in this big fundraising efforts. The first-ever Coffee Morning took place back in 1990, starting off as a rather small affair with a simple idea. Guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan. However, due to its mass appeal, it turned into an annual international fundraising event.
The reason behind this mass appeal is simple… Donating to the causes you care about not only benefits the charities themselves, but it can also be deeply rewarding for you too. In today’s modern society we need each other. We need humility, kindness and support. And this is the moving message behind Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – every penny can really make a difference because it’s the small acts of kindness, that have a huge impact.
