Mechanical Design Engineer High Precision Systems
£30,000 £35,000 + Benefits
I am supporting an awardwinning R&D and manufacturing business who develop a range of high precision, electromechanical products, supplied into highly regulated sectors. Recent investment has seen the company build a new state of the art manufacturing facility and they have ambitious growth plans for the coming years.
Working closely with a multidiscipline team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to support the development of several exciting new product initiatives as well as the ongoing improvement to existing systems.
The design and development of bespoke components, assemblies and systems identifying product developments, improvements and enhancements
The production of 3D detailed designs and manufacturing drawings
Take an active involvement in all stages of the design process; concept generation, design, prototyping, testing and manufacturing handover
Checking of design drawings and calculations
Perform analysis of prototype models to optimise the designs
The production of build instructions, BoMs, test plans and manuals
Assist and advise on the specification of materials and components
Prepare documentation relating to design projects in compliance with relevant standards
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to optimise the design and manufacture process
Key Skills and Background Required:
A highprofile mechanical engineer with a minimum of 2 years experience working on the development of high precision, electromechanical products and/or instruments
Experience working on automation or robotic systems development is desirable
Proficient user of 3D CAD (ideally Solidworks or Inventor) and 2D CAD software
Good understanding of mechanical concept and design techniques
Ability to conduct mechanical analysis (experience using FEA software is highly desirable)
Ability to perform testing and validation on prototype parts
Strong technical mechanical engineering skills; tolerancing, limits, fits, first principles
Ability to model fully constrained CAD geometry
Materials and manufacturing processes knowledge: 3D printing, machining
Strong DFM & DFA skills with experience working with manufacturing teams and suppliers
Practical skills with experience using machinery to create metal/plastic parts is desirable
Experience working within a regulated environment
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
HND, HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline will be considered
