About the job
Our Client is a Well-Established Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy who concentrate on a portfolio of projects and work throughout the UK on diverse schemes in a variety of sectors. Due to an increase of work they are now looking for a Principal Ecologist to join their team in the West Midlands.
Their Ecology services include Protected and other species surveys, Vegetation and habitat surveys, Ecological desk studies and scoping exercises, Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat management. Other areas include Long-term monitoring of habitats and species, BRE Environmental Assessment Method and Biodiversity Benchmark Assessments.
As a Principal Ecologist you will be working with a Multi-Disciplined team, the successful Principal Ecologist will have the following duties:
-Co-ordination and management of ecology consultancy services
-Developing the Ecology business
-Co-ordinate projects, overseeing staff members and processes
-Taking a lead role in the management of projects
-Briefing and managing ecology sub-contractors technical and financial performance.
-Technical review and approval of sub-contractors reports.
-Working with the existing team to manage and coordinate workloads and plan future growth
-Writing bids, costing projects and undertaking technical work to support projects as appropriate.
-Managing the commercial elements of ecology work
-Manage project accounts
-Managing junior members of staff
-Resource management and control
The ideal candidate must have:
-Degree or equivalent in Ecology, Conservation, or a related subject
-Hold a protected species licence(s)
-Demonstrable experience of successfully managing multi-disciplinary project teams
-Proven experience of team and project management
-Financial management experience
-Knowledge of environmental planning issues
-Experience of compiling fee proposals and project budgets.
-Minimum of 5 years Ecology Consultancy experience
