About the role:
As part of our continuedgrowth, Gyron, one of the UK's leading retail colocation providers and owned byNTT, is expanding its Technical Department. We are looking for an energetic andambitious Mechanical Engineer who wishes to develop their career within theData Centre environment. This will include Critical Facilities Maintenancesupport, design, construction and management.
Working within the Mechanical Engineering Team this role provides support, expertise and preventative maintenance suggestions of power generators, chilled water and HVAC systems amongst others, to the business to ensure the successful and efficient operation of Gyrons Data Centre estate.
Specifically, you will:Provide day today technical support/liaison to the Mechanical Engineering Manager,Operational teams and Critical FM in general.Operate and faultfind for Control Systems (e.g. Trend, Carel, Tridium etc.) Navigate andinterrogate Programmable Logic Controllers and Building Management Systems (PLC& BMS).Interpret andcommunicate technical information and share this information with non-technicalcolleagues.Provide technicalsupport and witnessing to commissioning activities to ensure installedinfrastructure meets bespoke design intent.Identify non-compliant areas/faulty equipment and take corrective actions to address these within required timescales.Enquire about andsupport the evaluation of technical specifications that capture key designrequirements and protect Gyron's interests. Undertake productcomparison/selection reviews and recommend new and traditionalapproaches/suppliers based on project needs. Assist the AccountManagement team by producing technical documentation and both preparing and attendingtechnical presentations and workshops with clients.Analyse suppliertechnical submittals, drawings and reports for operational impact.Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for new equipment, this may include travelling outside of the UK on some occasions. Assist in writing, evaluating and approving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).Develop the process of verifying and compiling all Operation and Maintenance Documents (O&M manualsincluding up-to-date descriptions, manufacturers literature, drawings etc.).
Required experience:An EngineeringBased Hons Degree (BEng/MEng/BSc) or HNC/HND with experience.5+ years technical experience working in a Mechanical/Building Services environment and working on systems including Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building/Energy Management (BMS, EMS), controls, cooling (e.g. ADCs) etc.Knowledge of DataCentre cooling; specifically including closed and open water-cooling systems,cooling towers, refrigeration systems etc.Previousexperience working operationally as a primary supplier.Proven trackrecord in technical analysis and problem solving.Microsoft Officeproficient with ability to present report information to groups.Experience of strongrelationships with internal customers.Track record indelivering to specified service level response times.
