Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer Associate - Woking or Bristol
Salary ? £50k - £65k + Benefits
Our client is looking to recruit talented, self-motivated and driven Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer at Associate level, with suitable experience and qualifications, to be based at their Woking or Bristol offices. The company are a successful and growing Transport Planning, Infrastructure Design & Environmental consultancy with offices nationwide. Applicants should be CEng or IEng, with a proven track record in managing the technical and financial aspects of projects. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to build their own team and benefit from rapid career progression opportunities.
The successful post holder will have the proven ability to undertake Flood Risk Assessments (FRA's), drainage reports and strategies to support outline and detailed planning applications.
Have the ability to produce FWS and SWS designs including drainage documents / designs / specifications to support Section 98, 104, 106 and 185 Agreements.
Drainage Design in accordance with Sewers for Adoption and SuDS Manual (753)
Soakaway design to Building Regulations, CIRIA and BRE 365 standards.
Excellent experience of detailed design projects being able to plan and manage projects and develop them through planning, design and to implementation on site and handover.
Have an understanding of the importance of Planning Decision Notices and S106 Agreements.
Have an understanding of S38/278 Agreements and be able to comfortably negotiate the technical aspects of such Agreements.
Have a knowledge of construction phasing and methods of construction.
Be based at our clients Head Office in Woking, reporting to the Highway Infrastructure Director.
Capable project manager, operating your own projects and arranging resources.
Manage internal resources and liaise with other teams (internally and externally) for multi-discipline projects.
Be capable of acting as project lead for the Company on projects.
Actively managing a small team of people with experience of mentoring junior staff/graduates.
Be able to work with little or no assistance from Directors (capable of being fully autonomous if required).
Be able to prepare project delivery programmes (use of Microsoft Project desirable, but not essential)
Be able to prepare project fee proposals.
Experienced with invoicing including Client liaison regarding fees or unpaid invoices.
Demonstrate excellent budgetary skills.
Meet agreed financial targets.
Be actively involved in the Company with an interest towards developing the business and promoting cross-sell of services where-ever possible.
Understand each discipline to best market and identify cross-sell opportunities for projects.
Encourage other members of staff.
Ideally be a CEng or IEng Member of a relevant professional institution such as the ICE or CIHT.
Demonstrate a good professional network with numerous contacts throughout the industry.
Be capable of actively managing and mentoring junior staff.
Have experience of detailed design and the management of detailed design projects.
Ideally have experience of construction contracts and be able to administer contracts.
Excellent communications skills (both written and orally in English).
Capable of comfortably addressing Clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
Attend site visits and meetings at all levels with Clients, Consultants, Statutory Undertakers, Contractors, Highway Authorities and other stakeholders.
Be prepared to challenge decisions made by others in a suitable manner.
Have a good understanding of Health and Safety Legislation.
Demonstrate experience and understanding of CDM and its application in construction projects.
Be able to advise the Client of their obligations under CDM.
Demonstrate an ability to act as 'Designer' for projects and liaise with the 'Principal Designer' as required by the CDM Regulations.
Demonstrate an ability to prepare hazard and risk assessments for projects.
Hold a relevant CSCS Card.
