A large number of children in developing countries lack access to known effective interventions. Almost 9 million die each year before reaching their fifth birthday, and over 200 million children who survive fail to achieve their full growth or developmental potential, trapping them in a cycle of continuing disadvantage. The goal of SPRING, Sustainable Programme Incorporating Nutrition & Games, is to develop an innovative approach to close this access gap, in two of the worst affected countries– India and Pakistan, and to evaluate the impact on growth and development through cluster randomised controlled trials.
We are looking for a part-time child health research assistant to be based in Rewari, a predominantly rural district of Haryana in North India, where the SPRING trial is being conducted in collaboration with SANGATH, a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation whose primary focus areas include child development, adolescent and youth health, and mental health and chronic disease.
The post holder will contribute to all SPRING programme activities carried out within India, working closely with SANGATH and members of the SPRING team in London and Pakistan.
The appointment will be part-time at 50% FTE and will be made on LSHTM's Academic Pathway Grade 5 (£32,324 to £37,106 pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience.
Applications should be made on-line via our website at ###.######.### The reference for this post is SPRING-RA. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to #####@######.### The closing date for the receipt of applications is 10pm, 09 December 2014.
