We are looking to recruit a
Waking Night Support Worker based at in Trowbridge, to work with rough sleepers accessing Trowbridge Night Shelter. £50 per sleeping night, £8.87 rising to £9.09 per waking hour.
Hours of Work: 4 x 12hour nights every 8 nightly period 7pm 7am.
Fixed term to the 31
st March 2020.
Key Performance Objectives:
To provide a supportive and safe environment to rough sleepers accessing the Trowbridge Winter Provision, enabling them to maintain their placement throughout the winter months
Provide a professional out of hours customer service which ensures the security of the building and the safety of guests
Maintaining and monitoring of guest attendance records and ensure effective recording of information, including service user files as required in line with GDPR and relevant policies
Manage and resolve neighbour disputes and incidents of antisocial behaviour in a fair and assertive manner, calling on the support of the Sleep In night worker as required
Manage telephone and general enquiries from customers, organisations and the public
Respond to medical emergencies referring/sign posting customers to the appropriate external agencies as necessary
Supporting and communicating with volunteers and colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the shelter
Escalate in a prompt manner any safeguarding concerns in relation to guests welfare to the Service Waking Night Team Leader
Escalate in a prompt ongoing concerns surrounding individuals disruptive behaviour to the Service Waking Night Team Leader
Complete accurate and comprehensive incident reports in line with relevant policies and procedures as and when required
Ensuring the security of the building is maintained to a high standard, regular monitoring CCTV and developing good communication with the relevant organisation in order to ensure maintenance issues are responded to within a timely manner
Ensure monthly health and safety checks are completed
To foster good neighbour and community relationships within the local area as required
Prepare beds and complete basic cleaning and laundry duties as required to ensure high standards of cleanliness
Ensure prompt access to our guests from 7pm
Basic food preparation
Carry out and oversee risk assessments as and when necessary
This post will require some lone working. Our lone working policy requires that staff carry a service mobile and adhere to the lone working policy
Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as deemed necessary or requested

Experience of working with vulnerable people
Experience of working unsupervised and on your own initiative
Ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with a range of individuals
Experience of working as part of a team
Excellent written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills including the ability to write reports
Experience of forming and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
Competent IT Skills Ability to record information accurately, objectively and within prescribed timescales
To be able to cover on a flexible rota to include evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays, waking nights and sleepins
Good working knowledge of the welfare benefits system
Experience and knowledge of key working systems
Experience of involving service users in improving services
Experience and knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and related issues
