About the job
Specialised Carers Wanted in the Cambridge Area – Daytime and Waking Nights
I am a 9-year-old cheeky boy who would like some people to help me when I’m at home as I need support all the time Although I use a wheelchair and need quite a lot of help because of my health needs I like to be kept busy. I like toys that make lots of noises and have lots of things for me to touch and feel. I like chatting and knowing what everyone else is doing, going out to the park and shops, and watching my favourite TV programmes. I have a younger brother and sister who live with me, and my mum and dad. I love it when they join in and play with me. Although I know I’m meant to sleep throughout the night, I need someone to stay awake and check that I am OK and help me if I need anything.
I already have some lovely people helping me at home, but I need to have a couple more so that I always have someone with me when I’m not at school and throughout the night. I have let Kate, my case manager, give all the details about the staff that I need, but would love to meet with you after you have been interviewed by my parents.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to enlarge our team to support this lovely boy in his home. We are recruiting Day Support Workers with the principle aim to support him in his daily activities and to ensure that all his learning through play, medical and therapeutic needs are recognised and met. We are also recruiting Waking Night Support Workers to ensure all his needs, including medical needs, are met through the night and to support him getting ready for his day in the morning. Our client has cerebral palsy and additional health needs, therefore there is a comprehensive induction process, training in all areas of support, clear and concise care plans and regular supervision meetings for all members of staff.
The Support Workers need to have enthusiasm and compassion and be able to support the client in all aspects of daily care as written in the job description. We are willing to discuss shift patterns but usually daytimes of working are 16.00-20.00 on school days, and 08.30 to 20.00 at the weekends and during the school holidays and waking night shifts will be from 22.00 until 08.30.
The rates of pay: £12.00 per hour weekdays and £14.00 per hour weekends.
This post is subject to two excellent references and a successful enhanced DBS child and adult work force disclosure.
