Research Fellow in Biomedical Data Analysis
Your main role is to develop data analysis tools for a point-of-care diagnostic technology for dementia, in close collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary project team. .Your work will include i) a critical review and selection of biomarkers for dementia, ii) development and evaluation of a model to quantify dementia and display results in real-time from analysis of biosensor measurements, and iii) analysis of multimodal biomedical data to validate results against existing methods.
The position is for up to three years, starting January, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
You should hold a PhD in a relevant area (e.g. Electronics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Mathematics or related cognate discipline).
You will have a significant postgraduate/postdoctoral experience and expertise in several of the following:
*Data analysis (e.g. involving machine learning and computational intelligence techniques) and the use of software tools (including relational databases and data processing software tools such as Weka, SPSS and MATLAB);*Subject-specific, biomedical data analysis and modelling;*Programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, Ruby);*Software development and IT *Database management and querying*Track record in publishing in high-impact factor journals.
Experience of neurodegenerative diseases, biomarkers and outcome measures, bio-sensing, and data analytics will be an advantage.
You will be based within the Signal Processing and Multimedia Communication (SPMC) Group, School of Computing and Mathematics, Plymouth University.
