About the job
Ready for the recognition and rewards you deserve?
We don't just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn't exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort. So we invest heavily in training, provide first-class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone on our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential.
The Priory Hospital East Midlands offers low secure, psychiatric intensive care, and rehabilitation and recovery services for females aged 18 years or older with a primary condition of mental illness and personality disorder. We are now recruiting for an acute admissions ward (non secure). The Hospital Director is the registered manager.
The Priory Hospital East Midlands underwent its most recent announced CQC inspection in 2018 and was rated good in all areas.
Safety and quality is at the heart of everything we do for our patients at Priory Hospitals. We strive at all times to provide care in the least restrictive manner, to maximise our patients' independence, to empower and involve our patients and their carers in their care, and to maintain the highest standards of dignity and respect for our patients and their carers.
Priory North operates a consultant-led medical model, with manageable patient caseloads and plentiful support from either Specialty Doctors or Advanced Practitioners/Nurse Prescribers. The focus is on high quality expert psychiatric care delivered to the wards by consultants who are specifically trained and skilled in the models of care, and who are clinical leaders for values, ethics, and innovation. The medical team across the North Region is cohesive and diverse and is evolving to work as a functional problem-solving department, despite the geographical distance between sites. There is a strong medical presence in governance and at Regional SMT level, which supports medical staff at site. The successful applicant will be joining an expanding and exciting team of skilled medical staff who are committed to quality improvement, personal and professional development, and enjoyable working lives.
The Specialty Doctor is part of, and provides support to, a multidisciplinary team that aspires to provide excellent bespoke care to enable our patients to fulfil their recovery goals and work towards discharge to the life they want. The Specialty Doctor is responsible for the day to day care of patients in their allocated caseload, reporting to the Consultant psychiatrist, who is supervising their work. The Specialty Doctor has a key role in supporting the team to provide evidence-based treatment with the patient at the centre of the team's approach. The medical model of care is a consultant-led service. This post is a Psychiatry Specialty Doctor post for the acute inpatient ward. A full time Consultant Psychiatrists works on the ward and the speciality doctor will work with the consultant.
The successful applicant will join established MDTs on the ward, which includes nurses, OTs, and Consultant Psychiatrist. The maximum caseload is 16, and this is consistent with consultant-led specialist service with Specialty Doctor support.
The successful candidate will be joining a stable and well-run site, which has strong governance. The successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in service and quality development and to participate in the weekly doctors' meeting. The successful candidate will have an interest in working in an acute inpatient setting as well as a demonstrable commitment to innovation, evidence-based interventions, multi-professional working and service-user involvement.
The on call is a first on-call 1 in 5 covering the acute services across three sites in Nottingham. The sites are close to each other. This requires the post-holder to be within 30 minutes of Calverton Hill Hospital or priory Hospital east Midlands when on call. There is on call accommodation at Calverton Hill Hospital if required.
