About the job

The Senior Garment Technologist will work and develop global supply bases. The role will involve managing and improving fit and analysing supplier performance. You will be an experienced Senior Garment Technologist with experience of handling both Lingerie and Swimwear, taking the product from initial fit through to production approval.Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract.Senior Garment Technologist (Lingerie & Swimwear) 12mths FTC- The Role:
Conducting fit sessions for own product areaSupporting technologist team in managing fit sessions for other product areasEnsuring all technical issues are accurately and consistently analysed and that clear, concise and accurate comments are sent to suppliersLiaising with Design and Buying teams to offer technical guidance and support on new product developmentWorking with suppliers to improve areas of weakness, and to maintain areas of strengthIdentifying new projectsAnalysing factory performance and maintaining up-to-date records of the resulting dataManaging the critical path and high-lighting potential issues in a timely wayKeeping up-to-date with fibre composition labelling and product safety regulationsPromoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitudeMaintaining supplier performance databaseDelivering continuous improvement and creative solutionsFeeding back to Technical Manager, peers and technologists with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practises
Senior Garment Technologist (Lingerie & Swimwear) 12mths FTC - The Person:
A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential, as is a minimum of 6-7 years' experience of a similar role in a fast-paced environmentExperience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of how factories are structured and operate, including types of machinery and equipmentComprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential, and pattern-cutting knowledge and practise is very desirableWorking knowledge of grading and grade rulesThorough understanding of garment construction and fabric technology, including testingFirst-class communication skills are essential, as well as experience of working with different cultures and the challenges this can bringAble to work both independently and as part of a team, and able to inspire and motivate team membersAble to meet new challenges with a positive attitude and to take ownership of projects as identified by the Technical Manager and / or Head of QAStrong time-management skills with the ability to both prioritise tasks and change direction with agility as the situation requiresFully conversant with Outlook, Excel and Word, and willing to learn new applications as the role demands.A preferred knowledge or experience of swimwear or lingerie products area.
