A manufacturing company with a foundry in Witney and Oldbury are looking for an operations manager will take overall day to day responsibility for the foundry operations across two locations. The purpose of the role is to provide the locations with day to day management support and act as a local point of escalation whilst providing support to the castings CEO.
You will take full responsibility for foundry operations activity and provide day to day line management to the two sites based operations/productions managers. You will have accountability to ensure that site based production activity is being achieved and provide additional management support across both foundry sites when required.
Key Accountabilities and Job Context
Work with the CEO, site operations managers and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of site score cards and the delivery of the business plan.
Provide management support in the day to day running of 2 foundry locations (Oldbury and Witney) to the locally based operations managers and their direct teams.
Hold local management meetings at each location and
collate risks and issues.
Health and Safety and environmental
Review all incidents (accidents, near misses) with local management on a monthly basis and provide escalation point in investigations if necessary.
Provide senior management input into major incidents
In conjunction with Health and Safety provide Health and Safety analysis to CEO and management team on a monthly basis.
Oversee in collaboration with the location managers all headcount and labour requirements in line with sales forecasts, business plans and labour forecasts.
Provide support and guidance to direct reports and location managers in relation to performance excellence.
Work with the HR business partner to act as a point of escalation for all ER matters where appropriate.
Contribute to and support the local line management
Support the sales team with new enquiries and orders to ensure robust product and customer satisfaction. Provide capacity data and operational input to optimize order book
Support sales team with Customer relationships, Customer and site visits.
Manage the operations team to meet customer requirements, drive quality standards and cost targets
Ensure on time in full delivery of products.
Ensure the facilities are kept in a clean and safe working order
Produce and provide a monthly board report for the CEO
Take ownership of data validity entered into local systems such as Synchro, Oracle etc
Work with local administration support to test data entered into systems and test validity.
Provide location management capacity at either location if required.
Quality and Technical
Support the quality and technical team to improve quality standards and develop product and processes
Support the CEO with operations excellence
