Security Analyst, protect the workplace, Cheltenham, base up to £41k with no core hours, flexible working and up to 12 TOIL days. Our client, a high profile organisation in the higher education sector with reach into central government requires a Security Analyst to play a key role in monitoring the agencies information security. Reporting to the Head of Information Security, the successful candidate will respond effectively to alerts and issues to minimise risk to the Agency’s Information. Specific areas of responsibility: Triage response to incidents and alerts and minimise the impact of incidents on the agency Conduct root cause analysis of incidents and make recommendations to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence Use a suite of SIEM, IDS, vulnerability assessment, threat intelligence/detection, behavioural monitoring, and compliance tools to monitor the Agency’s infrastructure Analyse and improve the Agency’s information security practices Ensure Agency is compliant with required standards Assists in training, mentoring and supporting less experienced staff in information security principles and good practice The successful candidates will have the following experience: An understanding of security operations methods and best practice An understanding of secure code development requirements and practices Practical experience querying databases to support security analysis Practical experience examining software systems to support security analysis 3+ years’ experience in a full-time IT role, of which 1+ year is in a security operations role Whilst training to get the right candidate up to speed will be provided, we are particularly interested to hear from people with GCIH, GCIA, GMON or equivalent & CCNA (Security) or equivalent.
