About the job
We are recruiting a Maintenance Operative to carry out minor maintenance activities and repairs across a group of care homes. The Maintenance Operative will be part of the property and facilities team and be supported by a team of peers as well as the Facilities Manager and Assistant Facilities Manager. This is a varied role which involves carrying out a variety of tasks including carpentry, basic plumbing, minor decorating and renovations. You will also be responsible for fire alarm testing and various monitoring and auditing activities. The Maintenance Operative is a 'mobile' role and involves working across a range of care homes in Essex and North London. A company vehicle is provided for use during working hours.
Our ideal Maintenance Operative will have previous experience carrying out maintenance tasks within a care setting, a school, hospital or hotel, a commercial or similar environment. You need to have strong attention to detail and familiarity with adhering to policies and procedures. Ideally you will have a building services or construction qualification as well as experience. We are looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, a calm nature and a willing attitude. You need to be adaptable and have a sensitive, empathic approach to residents. An understanding of fire procedures as well as health and safety is desirable. You need to have a UK driving licence.
