Underwriting Performance Analyst / MI / Analytics/ Actuarial / Insurance
Our client, one of the worlds leading specialist re/insurers has a requirement for an underwriting Performance Analyst to join their London based team. The role has sits within the underwriting function and will report into the Performance Partners. You will be responsible for all matters relating to underwriting performance and governance across all underwriting classes and managing relationships with underwriters. You will have a dual reporting line with MI, working in collaboration to build and maintain effective performance analytics and oversight.
Summary of Role:
This role will involve working within the Underwriting Performance Management team to support their analytics and reporting needs in respect of underwriting performance and governance, while also maintaining links to the wider MI team to learn processes and procedures and ensure analytical tools are built and controlled in line with overarching requirements.
The primary reporting is to the Head of Underwriting Performance and Governance to support in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the strategic objectives of Underwriting Performance and Governance. Day to day responsibilities include:
Working in collaboration with Underwriting Performance Partners and Underwriting Governance team to understand requirements and deliver reports / analytical tools in respect of:
Performance and Control dashboards;
Underwriting Control Exceptions;
Management and Underwriting Committee dashboards and standard reporting analysis; and
Insurance Risk monitoring and reporting.
Produce clear and concise reports to analyse underwriting performance and control activity;
Develop business knowledge and technical skills to be able to provide support the business;
Assist the team with other data related project tasks as necessary;
In order to ensure that the analytics and reports delivered are effectively controlled, accurate and produced using approved data models a secondary reporting role will be to the MI Manager.
Skills and Experience:
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SSRS and PowerBI; can clearly demonstrate knowledge on building reports to a high standard
Effectively uses and manipulates data from databases and I.T. systems to produce qualitative data for the business
Further relevant education (i.e. ACII or equivalent) desirable
Requires strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases; can clearly demonstrate how to append write complex queries.
Strong business data analysis skills
Effectively interacts and communicates with clients and colleagues to understand what kind of information they need to produce it
Requires strong and relevant work experience gained in a similar role within the insurance industry (underwriting or broking)
The ability to work in a small team, coach peers and add value
The ability to prioritise stakeholder needs
Understanding of sharepoint functionality
