£35000 - £40000 per annum + Benefits


The post holder will work as part of the Group Occupational Health team which provide an Occupational Health service to the various Divisions across the Organisation. The role will involve working autonomously as well as part of a team. The role predominantly involves the undertaking health surveillance programmes, initial health assessments and the delivery of health and wellbeing activity. In order to deliver these programmes regular travel with overnight stays will be required.


Home based/Peripatetic role predominantly covering the Southern Region but travel to other regions may be required dependant on business needs.


Health Surveillance Activity

Undertake health surveillance activity based upon health risk assessment.
To interpret health and safety legislation and make recommendations regarding the practical implications and ensuring compliance in the work place.
Keep abreast of legislation and EC directives regarding all aspects of Health & Safety.
Advise employees of any areas of concern and appropriate health protection measures.
Liaise with key personnel on site during the health surveillance programme reporting any problems/ specific concerns that arise whilst onsite.
Ensure appropriate and timely referral to GP/Occupational Health Physician.
Devise Health surveillance management/consolidated reports.

Initial Health Assessments

To assess current/prospective employees fitness to work and make recommendations accordingly.
To discuss the implications for employment, exposure to risk or fitness for specified jobs with employees to protect their health and safety at all times.
To advise and assist management with regard to reasonable adjustments for employees when deemed appropriate.
Provide support and guidance to the Occupational Health Technicians.

Knowledge skills & experience

Qualified Registered Nurse NMC registered
Experience of a similar role post qualification.
Competent in the undertaking of health surveillance activity including spirometry, audiometry, hand arm vibration and other health assessments such as safety critical work.
Experience of attendance management assessments/ initial health assessment both face to face and telephone consultations.
Knowledge and Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook.
Experience of undertaking Health and Wellbeing activity.
Experience of conducting ergonomic/display screen equipment assessments.
