Category: Academic | Department: Department of Social and Environmental Health Research | Closing Date: 26 Nov 2015 | We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to be an integral part of the team working on PANTHEON, an NIHR-funded programme grant to investigate the cost-effectiveness of HIV prevention strategies, including HIV self-testing, among gay men, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) in the UK. The post is based in London at Sigma Research (###.######.### in the Faculty of Public Health and Policy, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The post-holder will be responsible for the establishment of a systematic map of the evolving literature on HIV self-testing (HIV-ST) and HIV self-sampling (HIV-SS) among MSM and to plan and execute at least one systematic reviews on these topics. They will also need to organise and undertake focus group discussions and individual interviews with MSM and key stakeholders and participate in the analyses of these qualitative data. In addition, s/he will be expected to: play a full part in the collaborative activities of the PANTHEON team; present research findings to conferences, workshops and the media; and collaborate in writing-up results for a range of outputs, including peer-reviewed journal articles and other outputs. There may also be some teaching duties.
S/he will be required to have a Masters-level qualification in public health, health services management or health services research or an allied social science, and experience of conducting qualitative research, including focus group discussions and individual in-depth interviews, ideally in a sexual health context. S/he will have a proven ability to analyse qualitative data and write-up research findings for dissemination in a range of formats. S/he will also have a proven ability to deliver research outputs to deadlines and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
The appointment will be full time, commencing December 2015 until September 2017. Salary will be on the Research Assistant Scale, £32,324 - £37,106 (inclusive of London Weighting) (as at 01.08.14). Appointment will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions, including membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme, an annual leave allowance of 30 days pro rata plus 6 discretionary 'Director's Days' and season ticket loan.
