ROLE SUMMARY

Independent credit appraisal of corporate lending proposals from business groups. The role involves a review of the business proposals and secondary research reports (including external rating rationales, equity reports etc.), to understand the business and financial profile of the borrower and assigning an internal credit rating.

The analyst will interact with business group relationship managers and in some instances with the client. The analyst may be required to engage with other groups for the loan proposals namely Legal group and the Risk group of the Bank.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



Credit appraisal of business proposals within specified turnaround time.


Articulate key credit issues at credit committees. Disseminate key risk issues and relevant recommendations for risk mitigation through risk rating rationales to the Committee members.


Review existing frameworks for assessment of different types of lending transactions.


Ensuring that lending proposals are in compliance with the various Risk policies and local regulations in the various jurisdiction that the bank operates.


Monitoring various credit limits set by the bank through the periodic portfolio reports presented to the Committee. Ensure proper reporting of portfolio highlights to the management.


Reviewing cases in arrears and taking appropriate action where necessary.


Maintain physical and electronic documentation of all proposal related information as per the internal requirements of the bank


Engaging with internal and external auditors as and when necessary


To undertake projects and assignments from time to time as directed by the supervisor



Functional Skills Required

Experience in 2nd Line of Defence of the Risk function
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to challenge and convince, independently and constructively, senior management, peers to conduct the business with the desired risk return profile.
Ability to analyse proposals in considerable detail, and from a range of perspectives. Proposing alternate solutions in lending proposals to mitigate risks
The candidate should be very conversant in using excel spreadsheets
