About The Role
Plant & Fleet Solutions are looking to recruit a Fleet & Hire Controller to join their division who support our front-line operations by providing compliant, innovative and fit-for-purpose Vehicles, Plant and Equipment, whilst reviewing new market developments and products that help meet our Safety, Sustainability and Operational Efficiency Objectives.
We currently provide a comprehensive fleet of over 5,500 trucks, vans and cars, together with over 15,000 items of general plant and specialist utilities equipment from our Regional Supply Centres.
The Fleet Controller will be part of the Fleet Hire / Operations team that transacts all enquiries relating to LCV & HGV requirements of the group and is responsible for both the allocation of company owned vehicles or the hiring of externally supplied vehicles.
Fleet & Hire Controller you will be responsible for:
Processing of all hire and off enquiries received through the Fleet mailbox or by telephone timely and in line with procedures using the appropriate software. This is a 'Live Hire' system and this process is carried out at point of enquiry
Maximising utilisation of the internal vehicle fleet from all locations before placing with external hire
Liaising with Fleet Co-ordinator to ensure that system status of vehicles is accurate at all times and availability of vehicles is maximised
Engage with supply chain to satisfy requests not supplied from internal stock, raise purchase orders using the hire management software (Insphire), ensuring accuracy of input.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
LCV/HGV Experience: ideally some experience of the hire of or fleet management of LCV & HGV's, with a good knowledge of these vehicle types and some understanding of the legislation relevant to these vehicle types
Quality Control: passion to deliver good quality, accurate and timely work in accordance with policies and procedures
People Skills and Attitude: very good at talking to both internal contacts placing hires and drivers; professional, sincere and friendly; with a can do attitude
Dedication and Determination; to follow through tasks so they are completed on time and correctly; putting in the required effort to deal with sometimes high workloads
Organisation & Multi-tasking; this is a multi-faceted role with a number of work streams all running concurrently at all times; excellent organisational skills and multi-tasking are a key skill
Systems and Word, Excel; good level of experience working on IT software systems; open minded and quick to learn new systems, good word and excel skills
