About the job
Reference: A4030Description: We are seeking a research assistant to work on a range of activities for a major new study funded by the NIHR HTA programme. The purpose of this multi-centre randomised controlled trial (e-coachER) is to determine whether the addition of web-based coaching to usual exercise referral schemes increases the proportion of patients that achieve sustained, health-enhancing, physical activity. People with obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis or a history of depression will be recruited to take part.
You will be based in Plymouth, one of the recruitment sites, and will work closely with RAs in our partner sites in the West Midlands and Glasgow. The study will be coordinated from the Plymouth-based Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit.
This post provides scope for you to develop your research skills and experience within a complex trial. Responsibilities will include supporting study set-up, and delivery of the trial protocol in Plymouth, as well as coordinating activities with other researchers at recruitment sites in Birmingham and Glasgow.
You should have the necessary organisational, communication and analytical skills to complete a range of tasks associated with a complex trial, involving various research methodologists and clinicians. You should be self-motivated and able to work empathetically with patients with various medical conditions to support the use of the bespoke web-based support tool.
