Your primary role will be to work within the cleanroom-based Wolfson Lab to carry out the fabrication and characterisation of graphene biosensors, employing thin film deposition and microfabrication facilities, as well as using nanoscale and electrical characterisation instrumentations. You will also be expected to work closely with a cross-disciplinary research team from internal and external partners of the project to integrate new techniques developed by our partners into the multiplex sensors and to demonstrate applications for the detection of dementia biomarkers.

The position will start in January 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Research Fellow must hold a PhD degree in biosensing or related area with a strong track record of publications. Candidate with experience and publications in graphene biosensors is highly desirable.

The successful candidate is also expected to have most of the following skills and expertise:

Knowledge and experience in biosensing;Fabrication and characterisation of graphene devices and sensors;Thin film deposition (sputtering and evaporation) and microfabrication (photo/e-beam lithography); Graphene chemistry, functionalization and hybridisation of biosensors;Characterisation of devices using AFM, SEM and Raman spectroscopy;Electrical characterisation of biosensors;IT skills in word processing, data analysis and simulation;Publication track record in high impact factor journals;Ability to carry out research independently with innovative thinking;Experience in developing and writing grant applications

You will be based in the Wolfson Lab within the Centre for Research in Translational Biomedicine (CRTB), Plymouth University, and will work closely with researchers in CRTB and external partner institutions of the project.
