About the job
We’re looking for hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to join our truck teams collecting waste from homes and businesses, as part of our ‘man and van’ style clearance service.
The role is varied and will include driving of 3.5t vehicles as well as loading and labouring. The job can be physically demanding at times so you will need to be happy getting stuck in.
You’ll be responsible for delivering top level customer service at customer sites which may include quoting of jobs and providing accurate information back to our office based teams.
In return, we offer a permanent and full time contract with guaranteed hours and company benefits including a pension scheme.
TYPES OF JOBS:
The jobs you will be sent to can be very varied and you will often be part of a two person team, but sometimes you will also be sent out solo, depending on the jobs which have been allocated to your vehicle. Many of our jobs do require manual labour and loading, so you must enjoy some physical work and tackling challenging jobs.
Jobs can include relatively clean and easy collections such as removing bulky furniture to more messy collections including manually emptying bins which have been overfilled or collecting fly-tipped waste. We also collect skip bags which are used only for containment and can be filled with bulky waste or loose construction waste.
Hourly rate: £10 per hour which includes a bonus payment
Holiday: 28 days
Working hours: between 07:00 and 20:00 typically (various shifts, often around 8-12 hours per day)
Weekly hours guarantee: 35
Days: 5 days per week including regular weekend work on a rotational basis with 35 hours per week guaranteed and overtime available
Please note that employment is subject to DBS ChecksRequirements
You’ll be driving a 3.5t vehicle, which may be a tipper, a large van or a large box luton. You’ll need to be comfortable driving one of these vehicles and have a good driving record. All drivers are benchmarked on their driver behaviour score, which may have an impact on bonus payments.
Depending on the location and types of jobs allocated you on any given day, you may be driving just a few minutes or several hours every day. Driving is a core part of this job, so you must be comfortable manoeuvring a vehicle in tight spots and driving longer distances when necessary.
Reliability / timekeeping - start times and end times can vary significantly. You must be comfortable with not always knowing your start time and finish time too far in advance. This job will not suit people who need to pick up kids on school runs or who have regular commitments. We do however offer flexibility both ways with extra days off when requested and later starts or earlier finishes when business demands allow.
Customer service - you must be happy speaking with customers and providing top quality service. The job will sometimes involve quoting and often require customer interaction.
Technology - we are a tech led business and you will be using handheld PDA’s on all jobs. We will provide training on this and you will have full office support, so this is very rarely a cause for concern.
Communication - regular and clear communication with head office and the customer will be required. We are often called to ‘emergency’ clearances and we don’t always know exactly what you will be turning up to.Benefits
We will provide a full time contract on a permanent basis. We are a living wage accredited employer and will always ensure we pay above this rate.
Overtime is available and many of our truck teams choose to take on extra hours, with plenty available for those that want it.
We allow teams to book extra days off with notice, particularly when extra hours have been accrued.
We offer a company pension scheme as well as other staff benefits. Uniform and safety equipment is provided by us as well as full training.
