Assistant/Associate Professor in Health Economics (EPH-IDE-44)
The post-holder will work with the mathematical modelling and economic evaluation team to understand the impact of immunisation on vaccine-preventable disease and will design and apply mathematical models to address policy decisions around vaccination in England.
The post-holder will be responsible for developing a programme of methodological and applied research in the field of economic evaluation of vaccines and immunisation strategies in the UK and will collaborate closely with other researchers of the Health Protection Research Unit in Immunisation, in particular infectious disease modellers and epidemiologists. The post-holder will prepare research findings both for policy makers and scientific publication.
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degreein a relevant discipline with a strong quantitative component. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in working as a Health Economist, preferably on topics related to infectious diseases, a track record of publication in relevant scientific journals (in English) and evidence of effective team working skills with colleagues from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds and cultures. The post-holder will be able to evidence effective organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. This role will be based in London in the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine under the supervision of Prof Mark Jit (Professor in Vaccine Epidemiology).
The post is available immediately and is funded until March 2019. Further funding may be available after this date. The appointment will be made on LSHTM's Academic Pathway Assistant Professor scale, £44,226 to £50,629 or Associate Professor scale £53,477 to £61,380 depending on qualifications and experience. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year and in addition to this, there are a number of discretionary “Director's Days”. Membership of the USS Pension Scheme is available.
