Principal Air Quality Consultant
A Birmingham based Engineering consultancy is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated individual to join the company as a Principal/Senior Air Quality Consultant.
The position will suit an Air Quality consultant with a strong desire to further their career with an interesting and varied project workload. Support and training for those wishing to progress, with the opportunity for early promotion to Technical Director Level is available. Flexible working arrangements may also be available.
The company provides multidisciplinary consultancy services on a diverse range of strategic development, infrastructure and regeneration projects throughout the UK. We have an impressive track record of providing leading edge advice on some of the most challenging and large scale projects.
This permanent role will offer the opportunity to work on various major development opportunities throughout the UK, providing direct assistance to our Technical Directors in driving forward the environmentalbased roles being promoted by the business.
The candidate will have a technical background in science or environmental science with a substantial experience of working within an environmental role. The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in predictive dispersion modelling techniques and air quality assessment, with comprehensive knowledge of Air Quality legislation, guidance and practice. The role requires a close working relationship with other air quality, noise, land quality, water and waste management specialists, and the provision of support and advice across the business.
The candidate will be expected to undertake air quality work within the context of EIA/ESIA and Environmental Permitting as well as more standalone air quality projects. Project involvement typically includes strategic mixeduse development schemes as well as industrial sites.
The key requirements for the candidate are expected to be as follows:
Bachelors (essential) and Masters degree (desirable) in a core science, environmental science, or related discipline;
IAQM membership or equivalent chartered status (desirable but not essential);
A good understanding of UK air quality legislation, policy and guidance including Design Manual for Roads Bridges (DMRB) and UK Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM).
Excellent air quality technical skills from desk studies and dispersion modelling, to emissions management and control experience;
Solid understanding of legislative and other drivers, including industry best practice and the EIA process, which form the framework within which air quality work is carried out;
Excellent computer and numeracy skills including interpretation of air quality monitoring data, and demonstrable proficiency in ADMS, Aermod and other modelling software and GIS mapping, including deposition and odour aspects
Uptodate market and product knowledge of the air quality sector, in both the site and deskbased/review context, in order to guarantee work quality and guide others;
