As a Security Engineer, you will join our InfoSec team, delivering security prevention, detection and remediation services to our clients and infrastructure. The team are primarily responsible for the monitoring of availability, and response to infrastructure security incidents and executing security skilled change requests.This will include;Security Incident & Event Monitoring (SIEM)Anti-VirusApplication Delivery ControllersVulnerability MonitoringRemediation of Identified Security Risks where necessary In addition to the business as usual tasks described above, the Security Engineer will work closely with the Security Architects to focus on the delivery of new security capabilities, ensuring security enforcement and compliance, as well as supporting investigations and incident response. You will specialize in systems implementation, auditing and identity related security technologies, you will be expected to get involved with and learn the security technologies and business processes across the business. in order to gain a better understanding of information flow in order to provide end to end consistent security. Your key areas of expertise will be Linux based.Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive, hands-on experience with a variety of technologies and appliances, in particular: SIEM, WAFs, and Linux. Candidates must also be familiar with securing, auditing and maintaining both public and cloud implementations. Experience of managing enterprise security products such as Antivirus, Data Loss Prevention tools, Endpoint Protection, Identity Management and scripting capabilities on Linux and Windows would be beneficial. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years' experience working in a systems infrastructure, security operations and IT support role. Previous experience of working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) is desirable. An ambition to continuously learn and develop new skills and knowledge, with an understanding that study time outside of working hours may be required for career development. A good team working ethic, communicating with colleagues in a clear and professional manner, whilst maintaining a customer-service based approach is essential. The role may involve some travel and work from home requirements, but is predominantly based out of one of the NPS InfoSec key locations; Hartlepool, Alderly Edge, Hemel Hempstead or Bracknell offices.The security team within NPS is growing and the successful candidate will be able to progress into other security roles in the future.
