Vision for Education are actively recruiting for a full time Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work at a special school in Bradford that caters for autism and learning disabilities. We are looking for a candidate that can start immediately, however we understand that sometimes people have to work notice periods, so we can be flexible on this. Your role as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be to support the class teacher in delivering lessons, which typically are structured around the EYFS curriculum due to the abilities of the pupils in school and this tends to involve sensory activities and "messy play". The successful candidate will have had experience working with people with Autism for a minimum of six months either within or outside of education. Please see below a list of desirable and essential requirements:
Have a patient, supportive, empathetic and understanding nature.
Preferable but not essential - Previous Experience working with students aged 3 - 19 with Autism or learning disabilities.
Happy to work with children of all ages and young adults (3-19).
Be vigilant and supportive when managing / de-escalating challenging behaviour.
Comfortable with Personal Care if required.
Have a real desire to work with SEN students on the Autistic Spectrum.
Be confident working with both groups and 1:1.
Be confident when liaising with parents and colleagues.
Applicants must be available Monday to Friday
Applicant must hold a current enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to undergo one through Vision for Education and have it registered on the Update Service.
Must have experience working with Autism.
