UK ME/CFS Biobank Coordinator & CURE-ME Project Manager (0.8 FTE) (MEPM-02)




Category: Professional Support | Department: Faculty of Infectious & Tropical Diseases | Closing Date: 27 Nov 2015 | We are seeking to appoint a Biobank Coordinator and Project Manager for the CURE-ME Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) research team in the Disability and Eye Health Group, International Centre for Evidence in Disability, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). This presents an exciting opportunity to join a small but dynamic team working on ME/CFS biomedical research, which includes the UK ME/CFS Biobank, the first of its kind in the UK.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to rise to challenges with a problem-solving attitude. The post holder will be self-motivated and independent, and will support the CURE-ME research team in achieving its aims and objectives by contributing to the management and development of the team's projects both within the UK and internationally, utilising a diverse range of skills and a flexible approach to work.

Primary responsibilities will include liaison externally with funding bodies, members of the Steering Committee, and potential users of the Biobank (partners, collaborators, and peer reviewers), both within the UK and internationally and internally with various departments and faculties within LSHTM.

The post is part-time (0.8 FTE), 28 hours per week. The Project Manager part of the role will be funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health at 3 days per week. The Biobank Coordinator part of the role will be funded by the ME Association at 1 day per week. The post is funded for a period of 1 year in the first instance and is available as soon as possible. Salary is on the Professional Support Grade 5 from £32,647 to £37,477 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). Appointment of salary will normally be at the minimum of the grade.
