Category: Management | Closing Date: 24 Nov 2014 | The University of East London is a dynamic and rapidly expanding university in the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. UEL is in the top ten of modern universities for research in the most recent RAE exercise and eagerly awaits the 2014 REF results.

The Cass School of Education and Communities, located on our Stratford campus, is an innovative and supportive school with a strong research culture and a reputation for providing responsive solutions to diverse educational needs. The School houses three innovative and multidisciplinary research centres: the International Centre for Public Pedagogy, the International Centre for the Mixed Economy of Childcare and the Centre for Social Work Research, which engage in research and scholarship of local, national and international significance. The School specialises in comparative education, early childhood, special educational needs and inclusive education, professional education, social work, teacher education and youth work as well as running extensive programmes in PGCE and Initial Teacher Training.

The School is looking to appoint a Dean who can take this exceptional group of academics known for their leading edge research and teaching to the next level. A key strategic focus for the next Dean will be to establish the School at the forefront of Education training both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Although teacher training still remains a key strength of the School, the next Dean will need to be able to think innovatively on how to drive the School forward in a very challenging and changing environment for teachers. The School has a number of noteworthy research centres and world class academic staff who are looking for leadership to implement the School's mission by promoting excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

We are seeking a distinguished scholar/academic who will provide strategic management and academic leadership to ensure that the School becomes an unrivalled leader in delivering an innovative and socially relevant curriculum. It will be essential for the next Dean to be able to demonstrate a track record in research and community outreach and engagement, as well as demonstrating experience of management ideally in HE (or relevant sectors) and the ability to build sustainable relationships with external organisations.

Professorial Title may be available to suitably qualified applicant.

CVs without completed application forms will not be accepted.
