About the job

Domus are currently working with one of the most experienced providers of residential care for adults, with a remit to recruit for a Business Development Manager, to be based at one of their regional offices in Surrey or Buckinghamshire.

This Specialist Care provider, provide person-centred specialist residential accommodation for adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Illness and associated challenging behaviours. They have much experience in providing living environments that closely resemble typical family homes.

Key responsibilities:

To work with the Area Managers and Service Managers to agree the area development plan taking account of the funding and development needs of existing services and potential new opportunities.
To identify and lead on new service development opportunities in the area and to work with the Area Managers and Service Managers to develop service proposals and specifications, start-up and implement Head of Service action plans; this could include developing and setting up pilot projects.
To support the Area Managers on major service tenders, project managing or leading on tender submissions as needed. In association with the Bids and Tenders Manager and C&S BMD colleagues, ensure that all tender opportunities are monitored and considered.
To build effective business relationships with funders, service commissioners and other professionals where appropriate negotiating contractual arrangements.

The ideal candidate will:

Have excellent report writing skills, knowledge of care and support service provision, person centred working values and be a skilled networker and negotiator.
Be able to write dynamic and successful tender and fundraising bids, the candidate needs to be able to build business organically by networking with sensory loss social workers, people supported and their loved ones and a wide range of external partners and potential stakeholders.
Have the ability to quickly gain insight into the strategic priorities for care and support services and the operating environment will be a key requirement.
