A primaryaged special school located in Keighley is looking for a SEN Teacher for their Severe Learning Difficulty class. It is a KS2 age group class who are working at reception level and therefore the successful applicant will require experience of the KS1 curriculum and special school environments. Within the classroom, the behaviours are low level: the challenging behaviour presented is usually as a result of ASD diagnoses or other SEND diagnoses the children have. The role is to start during the first week of February and has a two week trial period. If successful, the candidate will then be taken on a permanent contract. This is a rewarding and fulfilling opportunity to make a difference in these childrens lives through an understanding and caring approach to education with a specialist focus.

The role will include:
To plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons at the appropriate curriculum level
Assist children in the class to make sure they are on track
Liaise with support staff to ensure the smooth running of the class
To support the general wellbeing of the students
To monitor and evaluate pupils learning
Enable learners to access the curriculum through a variety of techniques
Make full use of Teaching Assistants within the classroom to support aspects of teaching and behaviour management
Qualified teacher status or equivalent is essential
Experience working in a SEN school is essential
KS1 experience, specifically reading, writing, and maths is essential
To be able to work with students with various learning difficulties
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
An understanding of children with special needs
A flexible approach to education
