The University of East London is a dynamic, diverse, multicultural and rapidly expanding University at the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Canary Wharf, City Airport and Docklands.
Based at our Stratford campus, the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience has experienced considerable growth over the last 5 years, approximately 10-15% per annum. We are rapidly developing our post graduate and research programmes, involving wide collaboration in the UK and overseas.
We are seeking two experienced Senior Scientific Officers with a passion for providing the highest quality, multi-specialist technical expertise and support to students, staff and external partners for the teaching, research and consultation work of the School.
You will have a good honours degree in a bioscience or biomedical subject, ideally supported by a relevant postgraduate qualification. You will be able to evidence that you have working knowledge of a wide range of laboratory techniques and equipment in your area of expertise as well as a secondary area. Additionally, you will have excellent and up-to-date laboratory Health & Safety knowledge and the ability to train staff and students in developing their scientific knowledge and ability to use complex laboratory equipment.
The first post requires primary expertise in microbiology and molecular biology and you will ideally have secondary expertise in microscopy, immunology, genetics and cell biology (including cell culture).
The second post requires primary expertisein physiology,cellularpathology and histologyand you will ideally havesecondary expertise in anatomy, haematology and microscopy. The post requires excellent understanding of a wide range of equipment, trouble shooting and minor repairs.
