A small and welcoming PRU in South Bradford is looking to appoint a Behaviour Specialist to their staff team for the rest of the academic year. They are looking for someone with a background in behaviour management to help guide the students through their school day and navigate their socialemotional interactions. The school caters for secondary aged students who are unable to access mainstream school due to challenging behaviour. The role will involve supporting the class teacher with behaviour, and engagement of students with the lesson, supporting students transitioning between classes and on their breaks. Working with vulnerable students is a very rewarding and meaningful opportunity to help these students reengage with education, motivating them to achieve all they are capable of. This is a long term role until July, and there is the potential for the role to become permanent if this suits the successful applicant wishes.

Your role will include:
Establishing constructive relationships with students
Following the positive behaviour plans for each individual child
Support class teacher and other support staff to maintain a positive working environment
Develop a clear understanding of the specific needs of each pupil
Looking after childrens physical, emotional and social welfare
Recognising signs of distress in children, offering reassurance and deescalating the situation to best of your ability
To maintain a record and provide regular feedback about pupils to the teachers and/or SENCO in order to best track pupil progress
Assist the school in communicating with parent and carers using the appropriate approach
To support all learners in their curriculum studies and throughout the day
Key skills and experience needed:
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Commitment to and passion for working with vulnerable children
Experience working with people with special educational needs and disabilities, socialemotional mental health needs, or socialemotional behavioural difficulties
The ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
Able to work with learners with various learning difficulties
Flexibility in approach to educating and supporting children
Resiliency when facing challenges at work
Team teach certified, or equivalent is essential
