The key objective of this role is to create and implement innovative solutions in the handling and processing of small raw fish and achieve game-changing improvements in productivity and product quality, which will enable volume growth of existing food products and expansion of the product portfolio with new, exciting offerings to the market.
The role is pivotal to a collaborative project between Paramount 21 and Plymouth University funded through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme. Located in the heart of Devon, Paramount 21 are an award winning family business that have been supplying the food service industry with premium frozen seafood and vegetarian dishes since 1988. Plymouth University offers a stimulating learning environment in a vibrant city culture surrounded by dramatic countryside and close to some of Britain's most beautiful beaches with excellent sailing and surfing opportunities.
The candidate will be a recent graduate with an honours degree (2:1 or above) in Mechanical Engineering or similar with an engineering bias. Evidence of the application of your knowledge of engineering design, materials and manufacturing techniques is essential. Experience of 3D CAD tools, production and process analysis, and optimisation tools with a sound business acumen would be advantageous. The candidate will have good interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate complex concepts, be able to engage others, demonstrate initiative, and attend to details with the tenacity and creativity to solve complex problems. The candidate will be expected to work as part of a small team and lead the project to a successful outcome.

This is a full-time role on a fixed-term basis for 24 months. The position will be based at Newton Abbot, Devon.
