Reference: A4545Description: The School of Psychology at Plymouth is a large and successful discipline school, comprising more than 40 full-time academic staff and more than 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The School hosts the Centre for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, which forms part of the multidisciplinary Cognition Research Institute.
The centre has active research groups in Cognitive Neuroscience, Thinking and Reasoning, Memory, Vision, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Health and Well Being and Behaviour Change. These groups are housed in recently-built dedicated research facilities, and are supported by a team of technicians and teaching and research associates. The School's REF profile places it in the top third of psychology departments in the UK, with 83% of its research activity rated as internationally excellent or better. Our programmes include a BSc (Hons) Psychology, MPsych Advanced Psychology (pathways in cognitive neuroscience, clinical, and behaviour change), MSc Psychology, MSc Psychological Research Methods and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. The School is committed to ensuring a high quality student experience and this is evidenced through our 91% satisfaction rating in the recent National Student Survey.
The Head of School will lead this strategic business unit and be responsible for the delivery of local plans in response to Institutional strategy. This role will also carry with it an Associate Dean function, a specific cross-faculty leadership responsibility to co-ordinate and thereby advance the activities of the faculty in an area of particular importance and priority. This will be decided in discussion with the Executive Dean on appointment.
You will have an outstanding academic track record with a publication and research funding profile that demonstrates an internationally excellent standing in your field. You will be a research-leader, demonstrating both personal research excellence, and the potential to drive forward the research agenda of the School. You will also possess proven experience in academic leadership and in the formulation of strategy and the translation of strategy to action.
