Acorn Recruitment is actively recruiting for a Materials / Purchasing Assistant for our manufacturing client in Bridgend.
Working within a small team and reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this is a pivotal role where you will be accountable for the despatch, goods inwards, inventory handling and procurement functions within the business.
You will be actively engaging with, and supporting internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals. You will possess strong administrative skills and be able to manage a wide range of disciplines from effective communication (verbal and written) through to inventory management and manual handling/packing/despatch.
Key responsibilities within each department will include:
Inventory / Goods Inwards
Carry out routine checks of Goods Inwards deliveries, movement of inventory and registering transactions using the companies computerised systems. Schedule deliveries and organise activities with suppliers.
Raise and progress purchase orders with suppliers, using the companies MRP system. Carry out any nonconformance activities and chase any outstanding actions with suppliers.
Generate works orders to create demand for purchasing, using production bill of materials. Involved in maintaining bills of materials and execute design changes through inventory and supply chain.
Prepare and submit quotations for best cost/ value with suppliers. Ensure general housekeeping activities in the goods inwards and materials areas.
Despatch / Shipping
Carry out despatching activities against targets Pick, prepare and pack in accordance with the companys internal procedures.
Organise collection of despatched goods using carrier software as well as conventional telephone/online booking systems. Maintain and review packing materials and ensuring best practice packing / picking methods in the despatch role are adhered to.
*Be responsible for capturing accurate metrics on all despatches for continuous improvements exercises.
To be considered for this role you will hold a current forklift license or be willing to undergo training.
Previous experience within a materials role is preferable although not essential. Will have experience of despatch / shipping of products to customers / agents in the global marketplace coupled with warehousing, inventory management within both a manual and Electronic planning environment.
Hours of work: 37 hours a week (Monday Friday)
Monday Thursday 8.30am 5.00pm (Friday 8.30am 1.30pm)
