SCOPE OF THE ROLE:To develop, define and document overall technology architectures and solutions for Public Services accounts and new business opportunities.Ability to understand a client’s requirements and design a suitable and cost effective architecture to help them achieve their business objective.Own the overall technical solution being delivered to an NPS customer and work with various NPS teams through the deployment of the design.NPS has a wide footprint in public sector with multiple applications delivered to our clients, the successful candidate will work across many of these disciplines to design architectures that meet the product architecture, functional and non-functional requirements of the client.Produce architectural designs that do not exceed the planned budget for the specific solution or project.Experience working as one of many stream leads in a large programme of work and take ownership of area of responsibility within the programmeProficient and producing low level design documentation to a high standard which feed into the implementation and ongoing delivery of a solutionTo review and audit specifications, designs, test plans and test procedures for technical content, compliance with architecture and compliance with requirements.To maintain knowledge of industry standards and technology innovation in particular within the open source community.Ability to prepare and deliver briefings and presentations for the NPS senior management team and the NPS technology working group.Experience in working within a defined strategic technical roadmap which has appropriate overarching governance in placeExperience of engaging with clients and a range of internal stakeholders and ability to explain complex technical solutions to a variety of resources.ROLE OVERVIEW:You’ll be a member of a infrastructure design team work, working on scoping and pulling together designs, these range from design for hosting platform, public cloud platform to data centre migration. You will be responsible for fully documenting the end to end solution ensuring architecture patterns are followed, producing design documentation to a high standard. Qualifications
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:The successful candidate will have the following experience:Experience of software defined networking and virtualised network capabilities preferred but not essential.Storage Area Network experience required both from a design and configuration prospective.Experience using open source technologies and being an advocate for open source based solutions wherever appropriate to meet the business needsGood understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions with the ability to design solutions which meet both these requirements.Excellent working knowledge of public cloud with the ability to design and implement solutions.Ability to design and include both resilience and redundancy components into the technical solution.Demonstrate a good working knowledge of communications and networking principles and techniques, including firewalls, perimeter boundary protection, security vulnerabilities and mitigation.Define and apply business ‘best practice’, as well as follow industry standards in order to ensure quality is applied and maintained.Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating a variety of influencing styles to enable effective completion of tasks both individually and within groups.Ability to manage a number of concurrent projects and good time manage management skillsDemonstrates an ability to think ‘outside the box’ while defining solutions in a workable formEvaluates options efficiently and provides considered conclusions and directionDemonstrates a strategic focus – ability to turn ideas / objectives into tangible deliverables and tasksPrevious experience on designing and implementing solutions within the Public Sector and Central Government marketplace.Previous experience of working on Datacentre migration will be a advantage.
