About the job
Lets face it, looking for a new job can be stressful. Endlessly scouring the online job boards, wading through hundreds of poorly written, copy and pasted adverts all failing to do one thing...
Give you actual information about the role!
So with that in mind, I wanted to take some time to write up a short (and hopefully sweet) advert that should give you some genuine insight into what this role consists of. Ready?
Here we go...
I have partnered up with one of my longstanding clients who are looking to recruit an experienced Lead Architect and Solutions Lead to come in and join a new team as part of a companywide recruitment drive. The organisation themselves are pretty well known in the North West and they are currently in the midst of a huge digital transformation aimed at improving the way they deliver content to their customers through technical innovation.
This role will sit in a team that focuses on the delivery of a range of solutions that support the organisations worldwide payments technology function. This function consists of over 700 people (globally) and is focused primarily on the delivery of technological change, working on E2E solutions design and liaising with a range of company stakeholders. This part of the business liaises closely with the organisations investment banking and wealth management function, giving you the opportunity to shape the roadmap for a highly visible product stack.
Admittedly this is a hybrid role encompassing a range of responsibulities, some of which I have listed below:
E2E Architecture The core focus of this role will be providing E2E Architecture for a range of Enterprisescale solutions. You will essentially be leading a team of around 5 Solutions Architects, designing and delivering solutions for their customer contact channels including telephony, webchat, video and supporting services. They are currently in the midst of moving from SOA to a Microservicesbased model so exposure to either is required. Any certifications (e.g. TOGAF) would also be desirable.
Technology From a technology standpoint, they run a diverse estate so experience across Software Engineering (Java, REST API, Mulesoft), Databases (Oracle, Postgres), Linux and Cloud (AWS, Openshift) would be an advantage. They arent looking for a hands on coder and you wont be expected to fix any servers, but your role will involve liaising with technical stakeholders on a daytoday basis so you need to be working as close to the technology as possible in your current role.
Stakeholder Management Due to the nature of this organisation, the stakeholder management piece is huge and your role will be extremely stakeholderfacing. You will be expected to engage with both technical and commerciallyminded stakeholders, with a focus on both managing and influencing expectations throughout the development and design lifecycles. You should therefore be a strong and confident communicator with a proven track record working on stakeholderheavy projects.
Leadership & Management Whilst not being a management role in the same vein as a Development Manager or Project Manager, your role will still involve a large element of leadership so basic management skills would be useful. You will be expected to act as a conduit between various stakeholders and will be leading projects to some degree, so any experience in a leadership capacity would be beneficial.
But in my personal opinion, what they are
truly looking for are passionate technologists with a genuine drive to succeed cliche I know, but you get my drift.
So if this advert hasnt hurt your eyes and you are keen to learn a bit more about this specific opportunity then I would be happy to set up a follow up chat I can be contacted by the following means:
