About the job
We have a longterm temporary opportunity for an experienced Demand Planner to start ASAP. The assignment is to cover maternity leave ending in October 2019.
You will have experience within the Engineering sector as you need to be able to read and understand engineering drawings and have the ability to confidently liaise with other departments, contact suppliers and expedite orders.
A full UK/EU Driving licence will be required for this role and the location for the business is not on any public transport links.
Analyse Engineering drawings and BOMs to enable make/buy decisions
Create production part numbers and manufacturing BOMs where necessary
Raise production orders to allow item to be manufactured.
Coordinate with other Production Planners to ensure that schedule clashes are minimised within Ops department.
Give clear instruction to Purchasing of what needs to be bought and schedule of delivery
Ensure that all planned dates are agreed with the requestor if outside of requested dates.
Identify items on the critical path and liaise with Purchasing to expedite.
Initiate a request for quotation for parts with Purchasing
Update price requests for items to be sold by the Sales dept.
Estimate material and labour costs for bidding purposes.
Liaise with stores & workshops to check status of orders/ work requests to be completed
Contact suppliers to expedite late deliveries and update purchase orders on Exact as per Purchasing process
Re schedule production orders for when stock is available and update sales once reschedule is complete.
Initiate a request for quotation for parts with Purchasing.
Update cost prices for items to be sold by the Sales dept.
Carry out routine administrative tasks as requested.
Maintain departmental documentation in accordance with the document control register
Effectively communicates with all staff
Effectively communicates with customers and suppliers.
Deals with problems and challenges efficiently and effectively
Administratively effective keeps business information updated, easily accessible and secure
Uses initiative and is selfmotivated. Proactive not reactive.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience of working with MRP systems, Drawing vault and BOM trackers.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (MF)
