About the job

Are you passionate about helping pupils achieve their best and helping them to reach their full potential?

We are looking for a motivated and passionate person to work in a high school and support pupils between the ages of 11 and 16. This role would be fulltime, beginning September until the end of the academic year. The school is based in the Tameside area. The school strives every day to improve their provision for their pupils and they want to be offering their pupils the absolutely best education possible. The school believes that inclusion means having the pupils needs met both within school subjects, but also including their social and emotional needs that underpin academic progress. The pupils in the school may have severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

Support pupils in increasing their confidence and help them to be caring and responsible citizens. Aid pupils to maximise their opportunities in the world.

The way that they want to teach pupils to maximise their opportunities in the world is by developing their functional skills in the areas of:
Communication Thinking Skills
Working with others; including cooperation, socially effective behaviour and vocational skills Improving own learning
*Vocational skills

The responsibilities of the role include:
Supporting the teacher deliver informative and engaging lessons Working in small groups and on a one to one basis with some pupils
Helping the teacher to devise innovative lesson plans Assist pupils with personal care

The requirements for the role are:
A DBS on the update service Experience with children or adults with additional care needs
Be committed to achieving high levels of attainment for students Have a good team ethic, want to support and make a difference

This is an amazing opportunity to gain some valuable experience working in an outstanding school with a staff team who want to help the students achieve their best. You will gain a magnitude of experience within the school including working within the SEND sector and discovering different ways of teaching pupils the curriculum so that each individual pupil has a way of understanding the content of lesson.
