The Clinical Coordination Centre (CCC)in Bicester plays a vital role on the front line of the emergency ambulance service. The team is responsible for answering 999 and other healthcare professional telephone calls to the ambulance service then dispatching the appropriate response to the incident.

You will be the first point of contact for the patient journey and no two situations will be the same!

You might be dealing with a lifeor death emergency or you might be faced with a nonlifethreatening situation that nevertheless needs a response. Your job will be to get all the essential information from the caller, as quickly and accurately as possible. Thinking fast, multitasking and using your initiative, you will often work under great pressure.

Shift patterns:
Part time and full time shifts available. Must be flexible to work rotating shifts covering morning/evenings/nights and weekends. Must also be prepared to work Bank Holidays and unsociable hours.

Pay:
£9.12, £12.41, £15.69 depending on shift time. Overtime is paid time and a half and kicks in after 37.5 hours worked Bank Holidays if overtime is double time.

Key areas of responsibility:

To receive and prioritise emergency 999 urgent and routine calls

To receive and prioritise calls from other emergency services, hospitals and general practitioners and other healthcare professionals.

To carry out all duties required to provide the best possible standard of care to all patients and other healthcare professionals

Assess the needs of the caller (however extreme the case may be)

To undertake general clerical duties associated with the role

To assist in all aspects of processing and liaising with Non Emergency Patient Transport Services

Dispatching ambulances

Making referrals to the appropriate available service

Working under intense pressure

Skills required:

Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to speak clearly over the telephone

Customer service experience

Ability to work under intense pressure

Ability to prioritise

Telephone and general administration experience

Experience in use of IT systems and ability to input data accurately

Ability to work calmly especially when under pressure

GCSE English at grade C or higher and GCSE maths at grade D or higher (or equivalent qualifications)

NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent demonstrable experience
