JOB TITLE: Support Worker
SALARY: £8.20 increase next year
RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Support service to service users who have learning difficulties and Challenging Behaviours (Adults)
Our client has an excellent and validated track record of providing high quality outcomes focused support services to a wide range of client groups across the North East. These include people with mental health, people with learning and Challenging Behaviours, physical or sensory impairments and long term conditions or older people with support needs.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Working as an Support Worker you will have great interpersonal skills, can relate to people from different backgrounds, and are resourceful when helping others reaches solutions to problems. You will provide impartial, confidential advice and information to clients on a range of issues.
The post holder will be involved in developing people with learning disabilities to reach their maximum potential as individuals and to ensure normal patterns of life within the community.
Act as support worker for individual service users
Effectively assess individual needs and deliver an appropriate service
To contribute to the individual care planning process for people using the service by written and verbal communication
To ensure that appropriate records are kept of the user's progress and activity within the service and that these are shared with the individual
To share in the day-to-day work with service users which will involve assisting with personal care tasks, preparing and assisting meals etc.
The post holder must have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, colleagues, service users and families/carers and have the ability to support individuals with their personal and intimate needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
Strong people skills are a requirement for almost any job in the social sector but as a Support Worker these skills will be really tested and essential. The post holder must have an understanding of the changing needs of adults with a learning disability and must have regard for the dignity, respect and rights of service users.
It would be beneficial if candidate has previous experience working within this area
It would be beneficial if the candidate has a portable DBS
