Our client, global player in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, serving local authorities, telecommunications companies and equipment manufacturers is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their business Across Scotland.

The Quantity Surveyor will have the ownership of an entire region’s commercial activities, including cost management, forecasting and WIP (work in progress) management.
The role requires a professional individual who can manage both internal and external stakeholders, an
understanding of budgeting and cost control and ability to manage several commercial and cost administrators.
Order of cost estimates
The preparation of tender and contract documents such as bills of quantities
Performing risk, value management and cost control
Undertaking cost analysis for fibre optic works involving civil works where required.
Advising on procurement strategy
Preparing and analysing costings for tenders
Setting up and managing subcontract agreements, regular meetings and final accounts.
Identifying and responding to commercial risks as well as analysing outcomes and writing detailed reports
Valuing completed work and arranging payments
Use of measurement software and experience of producing BoQ’s.
Analysis of client instructions, tender documents, returns and reports on findings.
Measurement and preparation of budget estimates.
Undertake site visits, carry out site audits.
Preparation and submission of monthly/interim valuations certs.
To ensure best practices to high standards of health, safety, environment and quality within site operations under your control and to deliver a high value safe project for the client on behalf of the company and the team.
To identify and/or implement suitable cost saving initiatives.
Validate quantities invoiced by subcontractors.
A minimum of 5 years of experience working within the telecommunications field (either in civil
works or optical work) as a Quantity Surveyor
IT literate and experience working with MS office applications and cost control systems
Understanding of BT Openreach’s ‘Duct And Pole Access’ offer and practical constraints
Must be degree educated in Quantity Surveying or equivalently qualified
Up-to-date certification in Safepass, Manual Handling, 3-day Occupational First Aid & 3-day CSCS, SLG
Knowledge of UK building regulations
Understanding of UK HSQE construction laws
