About the job

The Role

The Customer Quality Engineer role reports into the Quality Manager and supports the quality requirements for manufacturing, and to ensure that all of the processes and checks are in place to fulfil the programme requirements.

Other key duties include the following;

Providing technical guidance on quality engineering to Manufacturing
Interpret and apply process sheets and control plans
Troubleshooting and implementing fixes to resolve manufacturing quality issues (change implementation)
Communication/interface between customers, suppliers, Manufacturing and Quality
Conduct product & process audits to identify, record & report issues within the manufacturing process
Equipment calibration maintenance management (diarise, arrange & record)
Information sourcing, data collecting, progress chasing & monitoring the change progress
PPAP/APQP submissions
Support TS/IATF16949
Provide support in the Quality Managers absence
Attend customer meetings/customer liaison (as directed by Project Management)
Have a clear understanding of the Quality requirements/involvement for each programme i.e. hours quoted, timing, tolerances etc
Reporting & monitoring of programmes
Working to Quality KPIs
Management of customer & supply quality issues
Arranging stock sorts & stock replenishment
Raising 8Ds on the customer for nonconformance for root cause analysis


In order to be successful in this position, we are looking for the following qualifications, skills and experiences to enable you to hit the ground running. They are;

Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience
Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within an automotive manufacturing environment
TS/IATF16949 experience
ISO9001 & ISO1401 experience
PPAP/APQP experience
Thorough understanding of Geometric Tolerance Dimensioning (GDT)
Attention to detail, methodical thinking, solution focused & creative thinking
The desire to lead/mentor team members to develop the Quality Team
Commercial Awareness
Be able to write control plans, PFMEA and process flows
Experience of working in a customer facing environment
The successful applicant must have a professional approach towards the customer (internal and external) at all times. Commitment, drive, flexible, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure plus a good understanding of logistical and manufacturing processes

Hours of work

7.45am to 4.15pm MonThursday
7.45am to 12.45pm Friday
Out of Hours cover (by phone)
