Data Analyst / Insurance / Underwriting / SQL
Our client, a leading London based Insurer has a requirement for an Underwriting Data Analyst with Insurance Industry experience to join their team, The ideal candidate will be operating in a similar role in another insurer and will have excellent Excel skills, strong Data Analysis experience, as well as experience in the Property binders business.
Role of Department
The Data team provide a central information and analytics service to the business. The Specialty Property Binders class of business is written on a delegated authority basis; providing property coverage for small and medium sized businesses, together with homeowner and dwelling coverage for individuals. Business is written in all states of the US as well as targeted business in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Preparation of account analysis files prior to contract renewals focussing on key performance metrics
Obtaining, reviewing and analysing weekly and monthly Management Information reports
Ad hoc reporting to support business planning, divisional management meetings and management data requests
Identify areas for process improvement to achieve better accuracy and efficiency for the underwriting team
New business analysis to identify pricing adequacy for risks presented by the broker to the Underwriter
Be a point of contact with Actuarial and Exposure management for data related queries
Assist the Underwriters in minimising risk by ensuring the accurate analysis and ongoing monitoring of aggregate information.
Be the data and analytics expert for the Specialty Property Binders team
Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have sensible judgement and meticulous attention to detail and will be highly service focussed
Graduate degree or equivalent desirable
Strong knowledge of insurance business practices focused on the London market, with delegated underwriting knowledge desirable.
Advanced office skills especially Excel and familiarity with Microsoft PowerPivot
Familiarity with SQL
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Strong reasoning capabilities logical thinking and good problemsolving skills
Understanding of data management principles
Progress towards ACII desirable
