About the job
Vision for Education are working with a Special School in Leeds that is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work at one of their secondary partnership sites that supports pupils with learning disabilities to access mainstream secondary education. Your role will be to work on a one to one basis with pupils in mainstream lessons to support them with their learning, such as helping them take notes, and breaking down activities in the lessons into more manageable chunks depending on their ability. As a result of this, we require applicants to have a minimum of a grade C and above in GCSE English. This is a long term role with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate. Please see below a list of other requirements for you to be considered for this role.
Have a patient, supportive, empathetic and understanding nature.
Preferable but not essential - Previous Experience working with students aged 11-16 with Autism or Learning Disabilities.
Be restorative in your approach and supportive when managing / de-escalating challenging behaviour.
Have a real desire to work with SEN students on the Autistic Spectrum.
Be confident working with both groups and 1:1.
Be confident when liaising with parents and colleagues.
Applicants must be available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Applicant must hold a current enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to undergo one through Vision for Education and have it registered on the Update Service.
Must have experience working with Autism.
