These are tremendously exciting times for the arts at the University of Hull as we look forward to being part of the City of Culture in 2017. This post presents an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in the City of Culture's preparations, delivery and legacy.

With experience of working in higher education, you will teach studentsatall levels within the School of Drama, Music and Screen in areas ranging from performance (including conducting/directing) and musicology (in any historical period) to practice-based music and theatre, depending on your specialism(s). Bringing your research ambitions to the University, you will also conduct individual and collaborative research projects that will raise both your own and the School's profile.

The School is committed to providing a student experience that enables individuals to develop their academic and performance qualities to the highest level. Significant investment in new and refurbished facilities underpins the delivery of our programmes and public performances. In addition to the outstanding Gulbenkian theatre complex, this investment will provide a state-of-the-art concert hall that is also enabled for music-theatre productions and surround-sound cinema.

The School offers a wide range of degree programmes and there are many opportunities to foster links between different disciplines both within the School and with other parts of the Faculty and University. Working in a variety of settings, you will contribute to teaching on the BMus, BA (Music) and BA (Music and Theatre) degrees, as well as a range ofpostgraduate programmes across the School. As an early career researcher, your work will be integral to the School's research activities. It is expected that you will have a good degree in music, plus a doctoral qualification in a relevant area. A proven ability to engage in publishable research and/or create innovative practical work is also essential to this role.
